The Barr Mansion is one of the most unique venues in the Austin area as well as the whole country according to this recent article in The New York Times. Not only are the Victorian mansion and Artisan Ballroom absolutely gorgeous, but the Barr Mansion is the country’s first certified organic event facility. Much of the produce is grown on site, and you would be hard pressed to find a more sustainable wedding venue anywhere. It has always been one of our favorites venues at which to photograph weddings here in Austin, and believe us when we tell you the in house catering is simply divine. Needless to say, we were excited when their lovely coordinator, Shanna, asked to to photograph their quarterly Harvest Tasting. Engaged couples who had booked with them would be sampling their seasonal cuisine and making decisions for their wedding menu. The day couldn’t have been more beautiful, and we enjoyed roaming around with cameras in hand taking pictures of all the loveliness. Shanna and Thea were on hand to answer questions, and Melanie McAfee, the owner, gave a presentation on exciting new changes happening at the Barr Mansion like the new Farmstead venue which will be able to accommodate 300 people. Not surprisingly, the food was fabulous from the appetizers, to the entrees, to the desserts, as were the floral centerpieces by STEMS Floral Design, which was founded by Abby McAfee Daigle, who grew up around weddings at the Barr Mansion. If you are looking for a wedding venue like no other with unbelievably delicious food, you should definitely check out the Barr Mansion.
