This is the second time I’ve been to Columbus, Texas to shoot a wedding. The last one was on a zebra ranch which was an odd experience, but certainly a fun wedding. Columbus , I think, tends to be one of those places that you just drive through on I-10 and normally only stop there for gas while asking yourself who lives there and what brought them there. Estella grew up near by and her parents still lived in the area so it was a kind of homecoming for her. Bret however lived in New York City where the couple met and all of his family and friends were from the city. They chose Columbus and had what I would call a Texas country wedding complete with a mechanical bull. Yes, that’s right, a mechanical bull. The bottom group of photos are dedicated to those spirited souls who crashed and burned while riding the bull which included the bride, the groom, all of the wedding party and a great ride by the bride’s father. I suppose this is what happens when a New York bra designer and a film maker decide to get married. Estella’s dress was custom designed in New York and Estella herself put her design skills to work to make the elaborate dresses for the bridesmaids.
