Max was graduating, so we took his senior portraits across Downtown Austin with his whole family along to cheer him on. They made the trip from Dallas to be part of the session, which made this one feel like a proper celebration from the start.

Our route included the Austonian Hotel, First Street Bridge, Long Center, and Austin City Hall. Those spots gave us a good mix of downtown architecture, open walkways, and city lights without straying far from the heart of Austin.

Mid-shoot, a storm rolled in. Rather than call it early, we kept shooting and ended up with some unexpected portraits on wet pavement, with reflected streetlights and a noticeably different downtown mood.

Senior portraits do not always go exactly as planned, and that is often where the interesting photographs show up. Max and his family were game to keep going, and Austin gave us plenty to work with.
